Mike Castle May Be More Hypo Than RINO

A great deal has been made of the fact that Rep. Mike Castle of Delaware voted against Pres. Obama’s , American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the stimulus package of 2009.

First let me say that voting against it was the right thing to do from a conservative view-point.

Too bad Rep. Castle hasn’t held to those views. It takes more than just voting against the stimulus, it take holding to principles. If Rep. Castle felt that the stimulus package was wrong, then why did he release this statement:

“Washington | January 7, 2010 – Delaware Congressman Mike Castle announced today that $5,230,610 has been awarded to the State to assist families and individuals in need. […] “As we face the coldest season of the year, it is imperative we provide those programs serving Delaware’s most disadvantaged families and individuals with the resources necessary to house, feed, and protect those in desperate need,” said Rep. Castle. “These grants, totaling more than $5 million, will help the invaluable organizations and programs which are working to help the homeless, hungry, and those facing economic hardship throughout the State.

I found this on Rep. Castle’s own web-site, http://www.castle.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=165407  Notice that nowhere in the release does Mr. Castle mention that this money is coming from the stimulus package.  He almost seems to be taking credit for bringing this money to Delaware.

So Mr. Castle, if you were so set against the stimulus, that you voted against it, why would you brag about your home state using it? If Mr. Castle were against the stimulus, then he should have been against even Delaware taking advantage of it. But in his release he is praising the use of it as a good thing.

I am starting to think that Mr. Castle is some strange cross between a RINO and a HYPO(crite).

                                                  Mike Castle

This is clearly a man who has no guiding ideology, that either can’t make up his mind on issues, or more likely is nothing but a political opportunist.

I like the way you call this pathetic fraud, Castle, exactly what he is: a hypocrite and a political opportunist. He is “post-ideology” and also, unfortunately, post-American. Monsieur Pierre du Pont recently praised Castle for being from a seventh-generation Delaware family –and a descendant of Benjamin Franklin, whose economic philosophy and constitutional views are radically different from Franklin’s. Monsieur du Pont also forgot to mention the key point: Castle is rich, which in the mind of Delaware’s Lords of the Backroom is an essential qualification for high office. Alas, all too often, Delawareans end up voting for people that hold them in contempt. Frank, your articles are wonderful; they expose these poseurs, these phonies, and that is what a real journalist does.

You are relentless–Come september–you will be shaking your head.

I have an idea: why don’t some of these billionaires and mutli-millionaires reach into their own pockets and help out the homeless and the hungry? Why do they take tax dollars from the unrich and distribute them. Warren Buffett, to his credit, is now giving away his billions. I haven’t heard if any of Delaware’s grandees are following Buffett’s example. Somehow, I doubt it.

Thanks Steve. And Mr. Bennett, the only reason I will be shaking my head in Sept. is if the people of Delaware are as in the tank for a forty year career politician, as the GOP establishment and would be GOP establishment seems to be. I don’t think that will be the case. I believe that the average rank and file voter has had enough of Mr. Castle’s hypocracy.

  5. Bill Says:

How are we rid ourselves of a 40yr politician if New Castle county undoes everything we try to do?
Let’s not forget that we have people moving here from New Jersey,New York,Pennsylvania and other tax oppressed states. I hope that these folks don’t come here bringing the same mentality that caused them to leave those places in the first place!
Steve,as you so eloquently said “…why don’t these multi-millionaires…help out the homeless and hungry?…” EXACTLY!
You point out Warren Buffett and let’s not forget Bill Gates in his quest to eradicate AIDS in Africa where,I believe he and his wife have donated $27 BILLION dollars to this cause.
You think any of these characters would step up and donate some of their money to a cause? Sure! Only when pigs fly!!!
As you say they take from the “unrich” you me and everyone else who works hard for a living only to see our money, OUR MONEY,wasted on these entitlement programs.
Remember what Jumpin’ Joe Biden said? “Some of this stimulis money will be wasted…” What can you say about a comment like that?
Frank, you’ll be shaking your head come November in a positive way as YES! The American people have spoken…….

  7. Bill Says:

Well,Frank,I’m ready to “roll up my sleeves” and get to work! It worked in PA seeing our old,old “friend” Arlen Specter sent to retirement!!!!
The Lord works in mysterious ways……..

Well Bill , you can start by going to Christine’s website http://christine2010.com/ and also her facebook page http://www.facebook.com/supportchristine
They need all the help you can give and most importantly , if you can, send a donation. Christine O’Donnell is running against a millionaire, but she can win if people can send her just ten or tenty dollars.
Bill in my view this is the most important race in Delaware this cycle, we have the oppurtunity to not only remove the most liberal Republican in the House, but to do it with someone who understands what this nation was founded upon, personal Liberty!
