There has been a growing list of so called “czars” in the Obama administration. These czars are people who the President appoints without any congressional review or oversight. These positions often have the same or more authority than do normal cabinet positions which are required to be processed through a congressional oversight process.
Many of Pres. Obama’s selections for these czar positions have been of questionable character and some such as Van Jones who was to be the “Green Czar” are down right nuts in their radical beliefs and ideas. It was shown that Van Jones , a personal friend of the First Lady, had signed a petition to have 9/11 investigated as an inside job by the United States government, he is also an admitted communist.
The list of czars has grown to somewhere around thirty or forty and cover areas of the government from cars to lightbulbs.
Well finally someone in congress is attempting to do something about this complete misuse of power by the President.
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) has introduced H.R. 3569 on Sept. 15 , 2009. This House Resolution has been dubbed the “SACK” Act.
H.R. 3569 would require that all of the current so called czars that are already in place would be sacked on Dec. 31 of this year in a sun set law.
The resolution would then require that all such positions be vetted through a Senatorial confirmation process. The resolution also bars the use of appropriated funds to pay the salaries and expenses associated with these positions.
The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The bill has twenty co-sponsors.
It is important that these positions be vetted by congress so that the people have some representation in the process. This is not yet a dictatorship where the emperer can just place his lackeys into positions of power over the little people.
Write you Representative and demand that they support H.R. 3569.
